The wind blows glimpses of
the coming Fall, breathes
them in through the shower
window. Oh, how the leaves
will change and overtake me.
It is my emotion, it is me,
the Fall, the seasons turning,
and the sleeping come Winter.
Silent in my heart as I
imagine the cold doorsteps
coming. The snow footprints
leading into my home, into
where I slumber. Chilled
just enough to warm by a fire
or under a blanket of wonder.
I'll remember back to now,
I'll remmeber while I lay
dormant and waiting. That
window will be closed soon
and the Summer gone. I feel
it when I take air into my
lungs, when I shiver in this
warm shower.
This morning, the sunrise
was more beautful than ever.
It stole my heart from every
emotion, it took me. Perhaps,
with the lateness of the season
it held more sway. Perhaps, the
chilled air through that window
was what stole me away. My heart,
so drawn out, so full, exhales
in such beautiful artistry.

Missing you
That first look
when we knew. Those
nights we knew, but
didn't speak. Our
hearts, they tremble
still. Missing
you close this
night. Needing
you close this
night. My heart
has gone to be
with you - our love
has embraced this
night. Holding
you, loving you,
has given me
forever.

Come Away, Little Bird
He's so tiny and he tilts his
head to look at me curiously.
This bird that came and landed
outside of my window.
"Why do you cry," he asks, but
I have no response.
"The sky, the river, it hasn't
changed. Only the way in which
you see it."
And then he flies away, flies to
wherever he wishes - wherever
he can.
The wind comes and dries the
tears on my cheek - the wind
that carried him away.
With a deep, drawn out
inhalation, I feel my heart
still, my muscles release.
I let go and fly away.
As if I was one of them, as
if I remembered who I've
always been.
