Drifting Aware

The water bugs play
A lake so calm after last nights storm
Rain lightly falls amidst the sunshine
Wading deeper and farther, still calm lake
Plunging my head, covering my ears
Diving deep, surfacing back float
Dark to light, eyes skyward

Water plugs my ears
No sounds aside the pink tissue taking air
It comes and goes, it is all I can hear
Eyes neither open nor closed
Afloat with light falling upon me
Simple rain numbing my face

Awareness comes to me
It takes less and less effort to stay afloat
Without looking, carelessly spinning
Eyelids go from light to dark
Open and closed, morning clouds, inner self
Stark blue sky so crisp and apparent

Morning fog burns and leaves
Gracefully afloat, calm smooth lake
Wind crested waves from days past have escaped
Only this lake remains
Drifting, with only myself

Delicate threads unwind
Ears break water, day sounds life
Everything floods into my again whole self
This has come to calm my soul
My mind has taken ease upon the current
I am drifting aware
Minding my soul
