Hide Me

Can't you come with me and take
me with you always. I've not
known life without you since
I touched your lips. And here
I sit unsober in my mind, drifting
away from everything that should
matter. You've made me into some
kind of pop chart addict dreaming
of that life with you.

It's that life that courses through,
through, forever dreaming of our
friends who know. Their jealousy
has taken first place, their pride
won't let them love us. Forever
watching at night, those shows,
that let them escape. It's love
that corrupts our view of reality.

If you won't or can't, would you
please take this song with you? I
have no need to listen to it play
over and over anymore. When it
interrupts my life I still see
pictures of us. I see what we knew
then. We're both so foolish, but
isn't that what we loved each other
for?

We hold each other in nights with
no plan for tomorrow. In that bed,
which I didn't buy, we hold onto
each other's dreams. Worried so much
that we are happy. So much so that
we often forget the illusion of our
own life. Who we are or what we want.
Love me come morning, hold me in the
evening, always know my soul. You
cannot hide.
