Before I turn on that computer,
before the day begins, I want to
sit here and wait.
All of those things will still
be there after the sun has taken
rise, so I'll watch.
The river distant, through spring
trees still dressed for winter,
glimmers and sparkles.
Birds speak quietly, to admire,
to gaze without thought of anything
other than the sun's warmth.
I don't want this moment to end.
I'm thinking of you this morning,
this early day.
No longer can I hide or else they'll
call me wanting something. All day
they will call to ask.
As I hear its fans spin up, I glance
once more at the sunshine stretching
over the carpet, and I smile.
